La belle-sœur du célèbre animateur coréen Park Soo Hong a été condamnée à une amende pour diffamation.

On December 11, the Seoul Western District Court fined Park Soo Hong's sister-in-law 12 million KRW (about 8,400 USD) for defamation, under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

Elle était accusée d'avoir diffusé des informations mensongères sur Park Soo Hong et sa femme, Kim Da Ye, via un chat de groupe sur les réseaux sociaux.

Le tribunal a déterminé qu'elle avait faussement prétendu avoir fréquemment aperçu une femme, supposée être la petite amie de Park, bien qu'elle n'ait aucune preuve directe ni n'ait été témoin d'événements à leur domicile. Les prétendues observations se seraient produites dans un parking. Le tribunal a jugé que ses actions étaient injustifiables, même si elle croyait que ses affirmations étaient vraies.

The judge stated: "The defendants likely intended to damage Park Soo Hong’s reputation and sway public opinion in their legal disputes. Given Park’s status as a public figure, the defamation had a significant impact on his reputation, and the false information had the potential to spread widely online, further worsening the harm." The court also criticized the sister-in-law for focusing on her family’s situation without providing credible explanations.

Parallèlement, le frère aîné de Park Soo Hong et sa belle-sœur subissent un procès en appel pour des accusations de détournement de fonds en vertu de la loi sur la punition aggravée pour des crimes économiques spécifiques.
